Works fulfilled in the field of hydrometeorology in 2017
National Hydrometeorological Department has performed systematic observation over republic area, including Caspian Sea basin, learned meteorological conditions, prepared short and long-period meteorological forecasts and bad weather warnings.
The automation and modernization of the hydrometeorological observation system has been continued and modern telecommunication systems for data collection, transmission and processing have been installed in the climate data management system, which allows for the safe storage and management of information that meets modern requirements, thereby achieving 100% of hydrometeorology automation. The number of automatic meteorological stations has reached 68, one of which was built in the village of Chojuk-Marjanly, which was liberated from occupation. The number of automated meteorological stations has increased from 4 to 11.
With the establishment of a new climate database and communication center in January 2017, the electronic collection of hydrometeorological observation data has been provided, data exchange with the World Meteorological Organization has been started through a new system. Based on perennial observations, a new version of the flood map and climate map has been prepared and published.
An online video surveillance system was also installed and commissioned in seven hydrometeorological stations (Kurdamir, Oguz, Gobustan, Tartar, Zardab, Mingachevir and Lankaran) and the total number of HMS on the network reached 30.
Expedition groups consisting of 4 groups were organized to assess the snow and water resources in the river basins of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, and to predict the flow of rivers during spring and summer floods in that area, and the 23rd route surveys were conducted. The flow forecast for the season of productivity, prepared on the basis of the results of observations on snow cover, has been submitted to relevant authorities.
Within the report period about 13600 of current forecasts for 7 climate zone of Azerbaijan (semi daily, daily, three days, 5-10 days upon request and monthly) have been prepared, about 12400 for 6 region of Caspian Sea ( semi daily, daily, three days ), 434 days forecast on Kura and Qanikh rivers, 746 stage forecast for 3 points in lower part of Kura river made for two and three days, 36 duty of water forecast on 3 rivers made for ten days, monthly forecast on 15 rivers and 12 season forecast for spring-summer snow melt flood period on Kura, Aras and Qanikh rivers.
Analyzes of statistical data of the effects of climate change on agriculture and improvement of database began, simultaneously developed climate scenarios based on modern methods in accordance with the execution of subparagraph 7.1.1 "Evaluation of climate change impacts and preparation of adequate adaptation plan" of the "Strategic Road Map for the Production and Processing of Agricultural Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan" approved by Decree No.1138 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 6, 2016,
At the same time, for the purpose of promoting the use of methane gas generated from the foliage generated in farms through the reduction of carbon dioxide emission in plant and livestock related to the implementation of Section 7.2.2, "Carbon emissions Reduction in the Agricultural Sector", to promote the use of renewable energy as well as campaign events were held with the participation of farms engaged in animal husbandry, as well as representatives of local executive authorities and agricultural departments in Yevlakh, Barda, Tartar, Fuzuli, Agsu, Agdash, Sheki, Gabala, Sabirabad, Saatli, Imishli and Beylagan regions.
In addition, a report on measures against floods and their consequences was prepared in 1967-1991 in connection with the implementation of section 7.2.2 "Considering the possibility of establishing a system for interference in nature and the protection system from hail for agricultural purposes.
